Checkbook diplomacy or chequebook diplomacy
Checkbook diplomacy is a kind of soft power used by powerful countries on some small countries in terms of helping them with funds to build infrastructure and development and in return wants them to give political support.
One such notable checkbook diplomacy case is china which is called people's republic of China whose government is in Beijing who does not want Taiwan( called republic of China) whose government is in Taipei to be recognized as country as china want to merge Taiwan with China.
So for this if Taiwan invest in some small countries to help them and ask in return to accept them as a country, china comes in between and ask such countries to not accept Taiwan as a country by providing them with funds much more than Taiwan and in return ask for political support.
So this is called checking diplomacy case.
